SCAM ALERT: Fake “Bill Pay” Listings on Google
We’re warning members about a sophisticated scam involving fake Google business listings pretending to be Southern Pine Electric.
🔍 Here’s what’s happening:
1️⃣ Scammers create a phony listing using our name.
2️⃣ When you call, it doesn’t go to our normal automated system — a live operator answers right away.
3️⃣ The person may have a foreign accent, offer fake “bill discounts,” and ask for personal or payment info.
4️⃣ They sometimes use our real automated system in the background to seem legitimate.
🎯 What to watch for:
• If someone answers directly, it’s not us — our line begins with an automated phone tree.
• Southern Pine does not offer payment discounts over the phone.
• Only use contact numbers from your bill, our website, or official materials.
