Member By-Laws
Service Checklist
Southern Pine Electric requires the following items to establish a new service.
- Government Issued Photo ID
- Social security number
- Service address (911 address)
- Mailing address, if different from service address
- Phone number (mobile number preferred for texting outage information)
- Completed and signed membership application
- $5 Membership fee
- $20 Connection fee
- Deposit (amount depends on credit history)
- Current mobile home or tag registration number
- Payment of outstanding bills due to Southern Pine Electric
RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Aid to construction is a fee paid by the member to help cover the cost of constructing electric lines. For more information, contact engineering@southernpine.coop.

CITY OF NEWTON:
City inspection permit
CITY OF FOREST:
City inspection permit
CITY OF HATTIESBURG:
City inspection permit (including temporary poles)
CITY OF PEARL:
Electrical inspection
All city of Pearl "commercial" accounts must be inspected between meter sets
CITY OF BRANDON:
All rental property (permanent foundation only), excluding apartments, duplexes and all mobile homes, requires an inspection from the city. The inspection is to be done even if the electricity has not been disconnected between tenants.
COUNTY REQUIREMENTS
COPIAH, SIMPSON AND LINCOLN COUNTIES:
Waste water approval/sanitation number(new construction or mobile home)
FORREST COUNTY:
Requires flood permit if a new line must be built. Existing services do not require a flood permit
RANKIN COUNTY:
Building permit
Electrical inspection
SMITH COUNTY:
Building permits if in a flood zone (new construction)
