Southern Pine Electric proudly sponsors two high school juniors each year to attend the Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi’s Youth Leadership Workshop in Jackson. They meet their legislators, tour the capitol, and participate in leadership and team-building activities with students from across Mississippi. Following the workshop, the students will participate in Youth Tour, held in Washington, D.C., where students from across the country join them.
Jackson James and Zoey Feazell were among 30 students from Southern Pine’s 11-county service area who attended Cooperative University at Southern Pine Electric’s headquarters.
Jackson and Zoey were selected through an application, observation, and interview process because they demonstrated leadership skills. They possess the qualities and characteristics to be future leaders of Southern Pine’s membership area and our state.
Jackson James is a junior at Stringer High School and plans to attend medical school upon completing his bachelor’s degree. A member of HOSA, Jackson has participated in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Bay Springs Mayor’s Youth Council, Student Council, and the Beta Club. Jackson is a member of First Baptist Church in Taylorsville, where he participates in the worship band, “Worship All In.” He is the son of Steve and Hope James of Bay Springs.
Zoey Feazell is a junior at Mendenhall High School and plans to pursue dentistry. She serves as the Junior Class Vice President, is a member of Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and is a Superintendent Scholar with perfect attendance. Zoey enjoys playing basketball and cheerleading. She is the daughter of Douglas and Rumonica Feazell of Magee.
Congratulations, Jackson and Zoey, for being selected as Southern Pine’s 2022 Youth Leadership winners.
