WHAT'S AN ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE?
HOW DOES IT HELP ME?

Southern Pine, like other electric cooperatives, was created to bring affordable, reliable electricity to rural areas in the late 1930’s. Electric cooperatives are owned by the members they serve and are not for profit; therefore, they aim to provide the best service at the lowest possible cost.

SUPERIOR SERVICE. DEPENDABLE ENERGY. AT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICE.

Southern Pine provides safe, reliable, and affordable energy at the lowest possible cost for our members. Our dedicated team works every day to bring the power to you.

YOUR COOPERATIVE. OUR MEMBERS.

We’re bringing back an old tradition! We’re having a Christmas card design contest for children of members and the theme is Lighting the Way to Christmas.

Open to children or grandchildren of Southern Pine employees, directors, or members, between the ages of 3-9.
Entries must be sent to the voice@southernpine.coop by October 1.
Drawing should be original to the child.
Children may color, paint, use markers, or submit as black and white.
Submission should be on 8-1/2 by 11-paper, with no text. Southern Pine reserves the right to add text to the design.

Two winners will be selected by a committee consisting of employees from other electric cooperatives. One winner will be selected from employees and directors’ children or grandchildren, and one winner from the children or grandchildren of members. The two winning entries will be the design used for the co-op’s Christmas cards. The child’s name, age, and SPE or member relative name will be printed on the back of the card, along with other information about the child.

The winners will receive great prizes and recognition, including:

CEO for a day.
$100 savings bond.
Snacks delivered during the month of December for the child’s class.
Recognized in the Pine Mass Employee Newsletter, at the Annual Membership Meeting, and on social media.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Otherwise, get the kiddos to work!

TODAY IN MISSISSIPPI

This month we visited Mississippi’s tiniest museum. The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum is the result of a major transformation of an old boarded up window and a downtown alley behind the historic Saenger Theater. Today, the alley — filled with all kinds of different art installations — draw people from all over the country.
